Rep. Stupak Questions Witnesses On Rescission Triggers

Today, the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing entitled “Terminations of Individual Health Policies by Insurance Companies.” The hearing examined the practice of “post-claims underwriting,” which occurs when insurance companies cancel individual health insurance policies after providers submit claims for medical services rendered. The Committee conducted an investigation into the practice of health insurance rescission, and the results were alarming. Over the past five years, almost 20000 individual insurance policyholders have had their policies rescinded by the three insurance companies who testified today: Assurant, UnitedHealth Group, and WellPoint.

They are all dogs, I have never seen an elephant fly and I have never seen an honest politician. All they ever do is divide the country based on sex, race, income status and anything else they can use to divide the people. Everyone should be healthy, but while we spend billions funding 756 military bases around the world, we can not afford it. We can not afford to feed people while the elite politicians have their cake.

@xinecallaw @xinecallaw Idiot… Federal money does go to fund ‘un-Planned Parenthood’ Source: wikipedia. I will quote you the line: “ensure access to safe and legal abortions.” So I am sorry, you are incorrect. Federal Funding for general abortion was legal until 2006. Perhaps you should better educatate yourself before you make a complete ass of yourself again.

American people are walking around in a coma w/ ipods blasting in their ears. They are not interested in health insurance because they will never get sick. They are in a fantasy bubble. Get smart, read about government and what’s going to affect them.

  16. leppy111 says:

Yes, and you can count on that being the case for most massive corporations. Ruthless and Heartless, the bottom line is all that counts to these people – it was a mistake to make corporations entities

They’re not in the health insurance business for our health — just our money.

And people quiver in fear over the possibility that the government may somehow stand in between them and their doctors one day… well, THESE cold heartless insurance bastards right here already stand between us and our doctors, and will continue to do so until health care is reformed.

Because private insurance are giants and the only giant we have to beat them is our government. That is why we need the government to regulate care so the giants will be forced to follow ethics for once. As for Medicaid, they do a bang up job at only 2-3% overhead, 25% better than private insurance. It is just taxes are slack at the moment why we are in such a deficit, and it did not begin with this administration either.

  23. ed61151 says:

The people testifying are all full of shit. They only reason they don’t collect all the medical records is not because of costs or delay in processing the application. They to collect as many premiums from you as possible before using this recision process. It’s all a numbers and probability game. That’s why it can’t be left in the hands of for profit companies.
